DUNHUANG GROTTOES SUI AND TANG DYNASTY ADORNMENT RESEARCH PROJECT
PRESERVING A MILLENNIUM OF CIVILIZATION, CELEBRATING THE ESSENCE OF EASTERN AESTHETICS
Dunhuang is not only a cultural treasure of the Silk Road, but also an important bridge connecting Eastern and Western civilizations. For Qeelin, it is also the source of the Maison's inspiration and founding vision. In 1997, Founder and Creative Director Dennis Chan was profoundly inspired by the murals of the Mogao Caves, sparking his ambition to create a jewellery brand capable of sharing the beauty and pride of Eastern culture with the world.
Since 2024, Qeelin has partnered with the Dunhuang Academy and the China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Foundation to support the Dunhuang Grottoes Sui and Tang Dynasty Adornment Research Project. The initiative promotes the study and documentation of jewellery and adornment arts depicted in Dunhuang murals and historical archives from the Sui and Tang dynasties. This collaboration reflects the Maison's long-term commitment to cultural heritage preservation while strengthening the connection between art, jewellery and history.
